AUGNM Roundup for the Week of November 14, 2016
There is no shortage of good and bad Internet behavior out there, so we're continuing our weekly feature of the highlights and misses in the digital world.
First, some terminology.
UGM Tip: Something particularly good we've noticed.
"404": A 404 is "Page Not Found," so it represents a goof on the Internet.
Skull and Crossbones: Danger!
UGM Tip: The Web site HoopLaHa, aka the good news Web site, launched a new Web series called "The Passion project," and the series premiere episode featured Melissa Joan Hart of "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" supporting military families.
"404": Dream Renee Kardashian, Rob Kardashian's and Black Chyna's newborn baby girl, is now on Twitter. This gets a "404" because we would be hesitant expose an infant, even the offspring of a reality-TV family, to the crazies on the Internet. Yes, we know, the wee one is not actually tweeting or reading the wacky stuff, and the baby probably has the best security money can buy, but putting your baby on Twitter at all? Jury's still out on that one.
Skull: Using the Internet as a way to escape. At the rise of fear-mongering, I point to a headline on Vice.com, UK version, "Instagram Could Be making You Poor." Yes, there are ways it can enrich you via reaching your fans, selling shout-outs and earning ad revenue, but as with the entire Internet, it can be a massive time and energy vampire.
