UGM Ashton Kutcher: "Building Digital Tools" To Fight Human Trafficking
Actor Ashton Kutcher is known for "That '70s Show".
Also, you may have heard about his former marriage to Demi Moore, as well as his current marriage to "70s" co-star Mila Kunis. And his turn as tech titan Steve Jobs in "Jobs". He's currently starring in Netflix's "The Ranch".
And true to his role as Jobs, he's innovating: he's using his Internet and media forum to go after the seamy underbelly of the Internet in a UGM (You Got Manners) alert. Kutcher and ex-wife Demi Moore began the anti-sex trafficking organization Thorn in 2008.
Jed Smith of Independent Journal Review recapped a recent "Today Show" interview with Kutcher. In it, Kutcher claims that Thorn has built a digital tool to help law enforcement find and recover sex trafficking victims, many of whom are talked online, and to identify and arrest sex traffickers. Thorn's digital tool has helped over 6,000 sex trafficking victims and put away 2,000 perpetrators.
Way to use the Internet for good. Kutcher is the UGM King today.
